Drum Lessons
At Port Perry School of Music, our Drum Program offers private lessons for children, teens, and adults of all experience levels, from first-time beginners to advanced players preparing for the stage.

Our passionate and experienced drum instructors bring real-world performance expertise and a supportive, hands-on approach to every lesson. Students learn essential skills such as rhythm, timing, coordination, and dynamic control, all while exploring their favourite musical styles, from rock, pop, and jazz to blues, funk, and world rhythms.

Drum lessons are available for students ages 8 and up, with younger students (ages 6–7) welcome to begin through our Combo Lesson Program, an engaging introduction that pairs rhythm training with musical exploration.

Drum Lessons for Children
Young drummers will learn to play with confidence through fun, interactive lessons that focus on timing, groove, and rhythm. Using age-appropriate methods and exciting play-along tracks, children develop coordination and focus while exploring the joy of drumming in a creative, supportive environment.

Drum Lessons for Teens
Our teen students dive deeper into technique, timing, and reading, while applying their skills to real songs and styles, from rock and pop to funk, blues, and jazz. As they advance, they will master more complex rhythms, fills, and transitions, all while discovering their own musical style and voice behind the kit.
Drum Lessons for Adults
Whether you’re a complete beginner or returning to an old passion, our adult drum lessons are designed to be both energizing and rewarding. Students explore the fundamentals of rhythm and groove while learning songs that inspire them. Lessons emphasize feel, coordination, and musicality, offering a creative outlet and a fun way to relieve stress through music.
