For beginners, teachers select from a variety of proven method books and resources tailored to each
student’s age, learning style, and pace. As students gain confidence and skills, they may choose to continue into the
Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Program, Canada’s leading standard in music education.
The piano provides an excellent foundation for developing musical skills, making it a perfect choice for beginners!
The piano offers a great visual reference for learning the notes, understanding patterns and relationships between them.
The pitch of each note is determined by the tuning of the piano, not the technique of the student, so even beginners can get a great sound from the instrument.

Piano Lessons are available for students ages 4 through adult, from complete beginners to advanced players. Our programs are flexible and personalized, ensuring that every student learns at their own pace and in the style that inspires them most.

Pianokids® Program
Pianokids® is a fun and engaging piano course designed especially for young beginners ages 4–10.
This child-centered program introduces the fundamentals of piano playing in a way that feels playful, creative, and encouraging, the perfect start to a lifelong love of music!

Through singing, games, and hands-on playing, children learn:

Each lesson blends fun musical games with solid skill development. Lessons are lively, age-appropriate, and designed to match how young children learn best — through play and discovery.

By the end of the first year, Pianokids® students have a strong grasp of piano basics, note reading, and musical awareness and are ready to continue their studies with confidence and enthusiasm!

Conservatory Program
After developing a strong foundation through our beginner method series, students may choose to continue their studies through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Program, Canada’s most widely recognized and respected system of music education.
Pathway to Excellence
The RCM Program offers a structured progression of 10 levels, culminating with the prestigious Associate Diploma (ARCT). This program provides students with a comprehensive musical education, emphasizing technique, theory, ear training, and performance.
Students who begin with the Pianokids® Program can transition seamlessly into RCM studies:

PianoKids® Level 3: Option to begin exploring RCM repertoire

PianoKids® Level 4: Upon completion of this level, students advance into RCM Level 3.
Flexible Exam Options
Students may complete RCM or Durham Music School examinations at any time during their studies. Exams are optional and can be taken in any order, allowing students to progress at their own pace while building confidence and enjoyment along the way.
