Recitals

Share Your Music! Music recitals provide students with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills, celebrate progress, and grow confidence as performers.

At Port Perry School of Music, our recitals are designed to create a supportive, inspiring environment where students of all levels can shine, express themselves, and enjoy the thrill of performing for an audience.

Recitals help students build performance confidence, develop stage presence, and set meaningful musical goals. They also offer the excitement of sharing music with family, friends, and fellow students, while celebrating the dedication and hard work that goes into learning an instrument or voice.

Our studio recitals are held twice a year, at Christmas and in June, and additional opportunities are available through our membership with the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association, giving students even more chances to perform and thrive!

Step onto the stage, share your music, and celebrate your progress,  every performance is a milestone on your musical journey!

Competitions

Challenge yourself and perform in Local Music Competitions! At Port Perry School of Music, students are encouraged to  grow as musicians by participating in local music competitions. These opportunities allow students to showcase their skills, receive valuable feedback, and perform in a motivating and inspiring environment.

Competing helps students develop confidence and poise under pressure, set and achieve musical goals, and gain constructive feedback from experienced adjudicators. Beyond technical growth, competitions foster a sense of accomplishment and recognition for the dedication and hard work invested in their musical journey.

Port Perry School of Music proudly offers students a variety of local competition opportunities, giving them the chance to perform, learn, and grow in a supportive and inspiring setting.

Studio Play-In's

Our unique Studio Play-Ins give students a comfortable, intimate environment to perform for small groups of peers and parents right in one of our lesson studios. These sessions are perfect for new performers who may not yet be ready for a full stage recital, as well as for students seeking additional feedback and practice before participating in local competitions.

Studio Play-Ins provide students with the opportunity to build confidence, refine technique, and gain valuable performance experience without the pressure of a large audience. Under the guidance of our studio Director and member of the Canadian Adjudicators Association, Marie-Therese Gummer, students receive constructive feedback to help them improve and prepare for future performances.

These sessions offer benefits such as:

  • Developing confidence in a relaxed, friendly environment.

  • Receiving personalized feedback from an experienced professional.

  • Gaining performance experience in a supportive, low-pressure setting.

  • Preparing effectively for recitals, competitions, and other public performances.

By fostering growth, encouragement, and a love of performing, Studio Play-Ins allow every student to shine at their own pace and enjoy the thrill of sharing their music in a nurturing environment.
