MARIE-THERESE GUMMER
PPSM DIRECTOR
Port Perry School of Music, Pianokids® Academy is founded by Marie-Therese Gummer,
an award-winning pianist who holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy from The Hartt School, University of Hartford,
where she was a faculty member in the undergraduate and community division for many years.
Ms. Gummer completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Graduate Diploma in Baroque Studies (harpsichord) from the University of Toronto.
At the age of 14 she completed her Associate diploma (ARCT) in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music and spent a number of years as a scholarship student in the
RCM’s Young Artist Performance Academy. In addition, she spent several summers at
The Aspen Music Festival and School, Indiana University and studying in Europe. ​
Marie-Therese Gummer is on the Executive Council with the Whitby Branch
Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association and is the co-author of the Pianokids® series.
In her spare time she volunteers as an Adoption Screener with Team Cat Rescue and enjoys gardening, baking and spending time with her family and two young daughters.​
She is active in Ontario as a teacher, adjudicator, teacher trainer and workshop clinician.
